Services for children

Our Psychologists can assist not only those who have mental health problems, but also children and young people who may have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or a disability. Individuals with Autism or a disability are more likely to experience mental health problems due to the challenges of living with their condition Therapy can be beneficial to these children and their family.

Many parents have concerns about their child’s emotional development or behaviour. Our Psychologists can provide therapeutic input to support the child or young person’s social, emotional and academic development. Our team of Psychologists play an important role in providing treatment in various forms, including skills-building programs for children for a range of problems such as aggression, anxiety, mood problems, social difficulties, bullying and oppositional defiance.

Our Psychologists will start by assessing your child’s needs and current levels of functioning and based on their requirements will develop a psychology service plan. Different skills are required at different developmental stages of life. Our Psychologists will provide an initial assessment of current needs and will design a program based on what is needed. Our Psychologists can work with a person directly or provide families with the information and strategies to make changes happen.

Over the last 15 years, our team of therapists have been supporting children with disability, working in the community and partnering with families, health providers and schools. We will work in collaboration with you to reach your child’s therapy goals. We can work with your whole family, children and adults, separately or together, and offer support which is specifically suited to your individual needs.

Sibling relationships can be difficult to manage for any family; however, there are extra challenges when one of your children has disability. Despite these challenges, siblings often share special connection, which can play a big part in each other’s development. Our psychology services aim to develop positive social interactions, help manage your child’s thoughts, feelings and emotions and enable improved relationships.
