accommodationassessment The NDIS relies on the specialist assessments, advice and professional opinions from allied health practitioners to determine the type and level of funding an NDIS participant receives for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), and Supported Independent Living (SIL). We can provide a comprehensive assessment that investigates the participants complex needs and the support needed to achieve their goals.

Comprehensive Functional Capacity Assessments

We provide comprehensive functional capacity assessments for those wanting to access the NDIS for Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

Our assessments focus on the participants goals in order to ensure our assessment supports the achievement of those goals. We review existing documentation from NDIS plans, support coordination, doctors, therapists and complete a full functional capacity assessment to evaluate how the participants requirements relates to SIL or SDA Rules. We interpret all our SDA findings with reference to the eligibility criteria.

Our report includes recommendations on determining the funding type and the level of funding for each participant (i.e. SIL funding or Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)) to support the request for equipment, therapy, or other capacity building supports.

Behavioural Risk Assessments

Some people with very complex behavioural needs, require the assessment of risks pertaining to accommodating the participant in a residential setting. A report is prepared detailing level of risk and recommendations to address or reduce the known risks associated with their support needs. We select assessment tools that best fit the participants risks. Our specialist assessments for these participants will carefully consider:

  • ecological and environmental risks
  • assessment of criminal offending risk (i.e. sexual/violent offending)
  • a person-directed, strengths-based approach
  • investigate and report the capacity building supports needed to reduce risks

Accommodation Grouping / Matching Assessments

We provide effective client matching assessments that support evaluating the, establishment, setting up or reconfiguring an accommodation placement (e.g. a group home), or when a new client is proposed to move into an existing residence. Our grouping assessments look at individual and ecological factors related to a proposed grouping, identify any potential risks or gaps, and provide recommendations to address these in a detailed report, that assists an individual family, organisation and group of families identify and plan for supports, and make informed decisions regarding placement and transition planning.
